Rainforest botanicals traditionally used to

|
MACA
(Lepidium meyenii)
Maca tones, strengthens and balances the
entire body. The endocrine system
is
particularly nourished by Maca. It
contains a variety of essential
nutrients including calcium, iron, potassium and |
 |
nineteen amino acids. Research has
documented Maca’s ability to increase fertility
and enhance libido.*
This nutrient-rich root has been part of the
regular diet of native Andean highlanders for
over 2,000 years. After observing Maca’s
fertility-enhancing and invigorating effects on
their herds, Andean shepherds began using it
themselves. It is cultivated at altitudes
between 11,000 and 14,000 feet, withstanding
harsh wind and sunlight as well as
below-freezing temperatures.
CHUCHUHUASI
(Maytenus krukovit)
translates as
“Trembling Back”
Chuchuhuasi bark relieves minor aches
and pains and promotes muscle
|
 |
relaxation. It helps cool and balance
adrenal function. Indigenous healers use
Chuchuhuasi as a general tonic and to enhance
the effectiveness of other botanicals. In Peru,
Ecuador and Colombia, Chuchuhuasi bark is used
to enhance libido. It has also been documented
to stimulate immune function.
The Chuchuhuasi tree grows up to 100 feet and
has a tough, heavy reddish-brown bark. It
originates from the tropical rainforests of
Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and Colombia. The bark’s
long history of use in these regions has
inspired significant research into its
immune-stimulating and pain-relieving
properties.
KIWICHA
(Amaranthus caudatus)
commonly known as Amaranth
The Kiwicha seed is exceptionally high
in protein, and was one of the main
cultivated foods in South America
in |
 |
pre-Colombian times. The protein in
Kiwicha contains the amino acid lysine, which is
lacking in most grains. Kiwicha is also a source
of important trace minerals and is rich in
complex carbohydrates. It contains twice the
amount of calcium found in milk and five times
the iron found in wheat. Kiwicha supports
overall health and provides physical energy and
stamina.
Kiwicha has a unique photosynthesis system which
transforms sunlight into energy at twice the
rate of most other plants. This allows the plant
to store enormous amounts of energy. An
independent comprehensive analysis of the
Kiwicha seed found it to be one of thirty foods
offering the greatest potential for improving
the human diet. Kiwicha is completely free of
gluten.
MUIRA PUAMA
(Ptychopetalum uncinatum)
also known as “Potency Wood”
Muira Puama has a long history of use in
the Amazon for a variety of purposes. |
 |
It is especially well-known for its
ability to enhance sexual function and promote
energy. Muira Puama also tones and balances the
central nervous system. A patent filed in the
U.S. in 1996 cited the plant’s ability to reduce
body fat and increase lean muscle. Research has
also documented benefits to the circulatory
system.
This small tree is native to the Brazilian
Amazon and other parts of the Amazon Rainforest.
It’s small, white flowers have an aroma
resembling jasmine. Modern scientists began
researching Muira Puama’s effectiveness as far
back as the 1920’s. Early European explorers
brought the plant back to Europe, and to this
day, it is still listed in the British Herbal
Pharmacopoeia (published by the British Herbal
Medicine Association).
SUMA (Pfaffia paniculata)
"para todo" - for everything
In South America, Suma earned the name “para
todo”, which translates as “for
everything”. This adaptogenic herb promotes
hormonal balance, |
 |
strengthens muscles and helps oxygenate cells.
It stimulates blood circulation and enhances
immune health. Russian Olympic athletes have
used Suma for many years to increase
performance, build muscles and strengthen
endurance without the negative side effects of
steroids.
Suma root contains nineteen amino acids, a large
concentration of electrolytes, trace minerals,
iron, and other nutrients. It is known around
the world for its ability to support healthy
nerve and glandular function, balance the
endocrine system and as a restorative and
rejuvenating tonic.
