1. French Institute of Sexology, 1996, Original research, Jacques Wayneberg. Male Sexual Asthenia - Interest in a Traditional Plant-Derived Medication: "Testor-plus".

Dr. Wayneberg's research tested the effects of Marapuama in 100 men, 82% with impotence and 18% with loss of libido. Subjects were given 1-1.5 gm of the herb in powdered form per day. "Frequency of intercourse was significantly increased for 62%. Thirty-two per cent indicated a strengthening of their libido. 12% noted morning erections that were improved. 52% noticed re-established stability of erections during intercourse.

2. Effect of Yohimbine Hydrochloride on Erectile Impotence by J. Susset et al. Jour of Urology, Vol. 141, (6), 1989, 1360-63.

"A double-blind partial crossover study on the therapeutic effect of yohimbine hydrochloride on erectile dysfunction was done in 82 sexually impotent patients. After one month of treatment with a maximum of 42 mg oral yohimbine hydorchloride daily 14% of the patients experienced restoration of full and sustained erections, 20% reported a partial response to the therapy and 65% reported no improvement."

3. Yohimbine vs Muira Puama in the Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction. The American Journal of Natural Medicine, Nov 1994, Vol. 1, No. 3, 8-9.

At the Institute of Sexology in Paris, France, a clinical study with 262 patients complaining of lack of sexual desire and the inability to attain or maintain an erection demonstrated Muirapuama extract to be effective in many cases. Within two weeks at a daily dose os 1-1.5 gm of the extract, 62% of patients with lose of libido claimed that the treatment had dynamic effect while 51% of patients with erection failures felt that the herb was beneficial. This success rate exceeds the 34% of the patients on yohimbine who showed improvement.

4. Notas Sobre Plantas Brasilieiras by M. Penna, Araujo Penna & Co., Rio de Janeiro, 1930.

Muira puama is recommended on a basis of confirmed experience, in the treatment of disorders of the nervous system.

5. Herbs of the Amazon by Dr. Donna Schwontkowski. SSBT Publishing, 1996.

Catuaba is a nervous system fortifier, capable of giving strength to people with general fatigue. Marapuama is influential in treating the symptoms of nervous problems and disorders and is a tonic for the nervous system.

6. "Ginkgo." Herbs That Heal: Prescription for Herbal Healing by Michael Weiner and Janet Weiner. Quantum Books, 1994, p. 165-66.

"Sixty patients suffering from arterial erectile dysfunction received a daily treatment with 60 mg of an extract of Ginkgo biloba. After 6 months, 50% of the subjects once again were able to achieve penile erections. Upwards of 45% of the remaining subjects showed some improvement."

7. "Gotu Kola or Centella. Centella asiatica." Herbal Tonic Therapies by Daniel Mowry. Keats Publishing, 1993. Pg. 53-54.

(a) J. Res. Ind. Med, Vol. 8, No. 9, 1973.

"Gotu kola has been cited in Indian sources for its ability to enhance intelligence and improve memory. The herb has been observed in clinical trials to increase the IQ and general mental ability and behavioral habits of mentally retarded children in India. It was found to contribute to enhanced activity levels and to increase the ability to overcome fatigue."

8. "Ginkgo." Herbal Tonic Therapies by Daniel Mowry. Keats Publishing, 1993. Pg. 166-79.

"Ginkgo has a tonic action on several aspects of neural functioning, including the stabilization of neural and muscular membranes, removal of toxic metabolites, normalization of transmitter concentrations, and maintenance of appropriate levels of important electrolytes."

(a) Effects of ginkgo biloba on changes induced by Quantitative Cerebral Microembolization in Rats. Arch Int Pharmacodyn, Vol. 243, 236, 1980.

"In a typical preclinical study using standard pharmacological procedures, microscopic particles are injected into the carotid artery of rats to mimic arterial blockage which normally leads to a decrease in the blood and oxygen supply to the brain. The administration of ginkgo biloba successfully protects the animals against the destructive effects of this procedure. Under the influence of ginkgo, increased levels of glucose and ATP occur, which help to maintain energy levels within individual cells of the brain."

(b) Ischemie Cerebrale Apres Ligature Non Simultanee des Arteres Carotides Chez le Rat: Effet de L'extrait de Ginkgo biloba. Sem Hop Paris, Vol. 58, 403, 1982.

"Treatment with ginkgo significantly increases blood flow to the brain and perhaps more critically, it also produces a significant rise in dopamine synthesis, a neurotransmitter that is critical to the transfer of inormation and electrochemical impulses between nerves and other nerves, and between nerves and muscles, glands, organs, blood vessels and other structures of the body."

(c) Neuromediator Changes During Cerebral Aging. The Effect of Ginkgo Biloba Extract. Presse Med, Vol. 15 (31) 1488-90, 1986.

"Ginkgo exerts a specific effect of the beta receptors of the noradrenergic nervous system. Beta receptor sites on muscles and organs, when activated, produce amonth other things dilation of airways in the lung, and dilation of peripheral blood vessels. The best word to describe the effect of ginkgo is 'reactivation.' In the aging process, the noradrenergic nervous system, especially in the brain, begins to lose vigor; associated symptoms of memory loss, speech defects and decrease in alertness appear. By reactivating the brain cells of the cerebral cortex, ginkgo promises to be an important substance in the prevention of premature aging."
